Focus are commissioned by the East Midlands Development Agency to manage a ten year research, monitoring and evaluation exercise on the impact of the South Shirebrook. The £24 million project is the reclamation of the Shirebrook Colliery in North Nottinghamshire for employment, housing, and residential development. The study is the most significant single exercise of its type in the region and will run continuously until 2008 using a comprehensive mix of innovative methods to monitor and evaluate its impact on the economic, social and physical environments of a community which has suffered the severe effects of the loss of its primary employer following the closure of the colliery.
