BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method)
BREEAM (developed by the BRE) was first introduced in a simple format in 1990; it has now been developed into a comprehensive environmental assessment method whose aim is to:
- reduce the environmental impact of developments;
- enable developments to be recognised according to their environmental benefits;
- provide a credible, environmental label for buildings;
- stimulate demand for environmentally sustainable buildings.
As increased pressure is placed upon developers to reduce the environmental impact of their buildings, BREEAM has become more widespread in its application. This is due to its recognition across the industry as a robust environmental assessment method. BREEAM is increasingly becoming a planning requirement as it is adopted by Local Authorities. The growth in its use is supported by Government policy as BREEAM assessments are a funding requirement for developments across key public sectors, including education and healthcare.
Focus understands the importance of early advice on BREEAM. The service we provide is based upon our established methods;
- Initial meeting and assessment of the project
- Production of a predication assessment with options appraisal
- Issue information required schedule for supporting evidence
- Continued support through final submission to certification.
Focus can also assist with the production of key supporting evidence
documents where the client requires this service. Focus currently
has a qualified BREEAM Assessor for Schools and intends to offer
BREEAM Office Assessments during 2008.
